What is the ‘Role of an Effective PMO’ Night all about?
This is the second PMO-related night hosted by the British Computer Society in as many months. This one explores the role PMOs in successful project and program delivery.
Projects are rarely delivered in isolation and companies with mature project management delivery capabilities will usually have a mature enterprise project management office providing strategic delivery services, portfolio oversight, support and enablement. But smaller PMOs have a role to play too. Many projects are supported by a single PMO professional who plays an important role in helping the project negotiate business processes. Often PMO professionals sneer at the idea of a PMO offering pure administrative support, but these functions are often highly valued by project managers and project teams - especially where these may be skills that are otherwise lacking on the team.
This session at BCS will consider the role an effective PMO can play in driving and supporting successful delivery at all levels of the organization. It will explore how the business and project leaders engage with the PMO and identify how best they can help delivery within the context of other roles across the organization.
The session is going to be interactive and lively and will be lead by Eileen Roden, lead author of P3O® Best Management Practice, Trainer and PPM Consultant.
