What is the Crossrail: Building the Data Project Night all about?
If everything goes to plan, on the 9th December, London's newest train line will open offering a high-frequency and high-capacity railway that will run right through the heart of the UK capital. Crossrail is Europe's largest infrastructure project and is currently on track to deliver on-time and to budget.
You can find out more about the Crossrail project on their site here: http://www.crossrail.co.uk/construction/, but the London Project Data and Analytics meetup group are looking at the project from a different perspective. On the 22nd August they will be exploring how data were used on the project to provide insight, control and effective KPI monitoring.
The talk will be given by Malcolm Taylor, Head of Technical Information at Crossrail, and Walter Macharg, Head of Change Control and Cost Assurance. They will be giving a first-hand account of how information management played a crucial role in the project, how project controls were implemented, and how data projects were handed off to the railway operator. Malcom and Walter do not claim to have all the answers - they will be asking for feedback during the session - how could methods have been improved? how could we make data management even better for the mega-projects of the future?
With great speakers and an energetic project data and analytics community to engage with, the evening promises to be both informative and interactive.
