What is the Agile Project Governance Night all about?
Agile Project Governance can be a challenge for PMOs. How do you strike the right balance between strict CAPEX-driven controls and gated approval processes, whilst simultaneously enabling teams who value individuals and interactions over processes?
The event is being lead by Jon Ward from Beneficial Consulting. Jon has been a champion for pragmatic agile approaches for a number of years and draws on knowledge from SAFe, LeSS, Disciplined Agile, Scrum, PRINCE2 Agile, P3O and a number of other frameworks. He is passionate about the role of the PMO in Agile organizations and advocates an approach he calls the Lean-Agile PMO.
During the session Jon will compare the behaviors and controls required for traditional project governance with those required for agile teams. He'll explore what the engagement between agile teams and the PMO should look like and the behaviors that a 'Servant-leading' PMO should adopt.
The topic is certainly a hot one and I'm fascinated to hear what Jon's take on the subject will be. I met up with him recently at a PMO Managers Lunch at London's Groucho Club. We talked Agile PMO with a number of experts in the field. You can read our conclusions here: https://pmoflashmob.org/inside-pmo-agile-pmo-skills/
